Easy Piano Classics - Lesson 1 - Key Signatures - PianoVideoLessons |Online Adult Piano Lessons1
What is a key signature? How do I know what key a piece is written in? What key is my piece in? How do I read a key signature? These are all good questions!
A key signature shows us what flats or sharps to play throughout a piece of music. In this free online video piano lesson, we're going to learn about Key Signatures and apply them to the Key of F Major.
The key of F major uses B flat. It's important for us to know our way around the keyboard when playing in F major. Then we can successfully use the key signature to read a piece of music written in that key.
In this lesson we will learn how to read a key signature, how to know which key we're playing in, and we'll learn the technical drills in F Major: the pentascale, the 8-note major scale and the diatonic chords in F Major. We'll also improvise some simple melodies in F Major.

In our next lesson we will be learning to play the Brahms Lullaby arranged in the Key of F and put our skills to use!
